Tips for booking a canyoning activity successfully

Before booking, it’s important to read these tips to ensure everything runs smoothly during your activity.

Tip #1: Make sure that ALL participants have proper footwear. See the photos below.

Tip #2: Make sure that NONE of the participants have health issues. For example, we’ve had pregnant women, a man with a cast on his arm, and even an epileptic seizure during a canyoning trip. Please use good judgment to avoid these situations.

Tip #3: Check the location of the canyon carefully. We provide maps and GPS coordinates. Unfortunately, we’ve had many last-minute cancellations because the canyon was “too far.” In those cases, you lose your deposit and the guide loses a full workday, since they are independent.

Tip #4: Choose your canyon based on the least athletic, most cautious, or most cold-sensitive person in the group. For example, in a canyon like Gours du Ray, everyone can enjoy the activity: the more adventurous can jump up to 8 meters, dive under siphons and enjoy fun sections, while those who are less daring can follow the group at their own pace without ever feeling overwhelmed. On the other hand, if someone not used to this type of activity ends up in a long and demanding canyon with no exit along the way, the day can become difficult for them… and for the whole group. This is when stress — or even accidents — can occur, and that’s best avoided.

Tip #5: Be accurate about the number of participants. The guides are independent and paid based on the number of people. On the day of the activity, you’ll be asked to pay for the number of reserved spots, not just the people who show up. It’s not our responsibility to cover for no-shows.
