Aquatic hike in the Verdon gorges
The Imbut aquatic hike is an unique activity of its kind. Remarkable landscapes will appear as you follow the path of the river, crossing by the Styx, the Estelier and the Chaos bloc of the Imbut. A rather big cavity waits for you at the end of the river. You will dare test your recklessness with the multiple jumps it contains?
The aquatic hike is an unlimited supply of jumps of all heights, in a turquoise water. It is an entertaining activity, as is consists of both peaceful passages and fun spots.
Specificity: The water flow changes accordingly to the water drop of a EDF dam located above the activity. Thus, this activity is solely practicable when the water flow allows it.
Level: intermediate.
The Imbut aquatic hike is an day activity that requires a good physical shape. None of the jumps are mandatory. You should be confortable in water for this activity.
Planning of the day.
The meeting takes place at the parking of the hostel “L’auberge des Cavaliers”, on the left side of the Verdon. The day starts with the distribution of the necessary equipment. Then, comes the time to walk down the gran Verdon canyon by the path “Sentier des Cavaliers”. Once, down the Estelier footbridge, the adventure shall begin. You will follow the river up to the Chaos of the Imbut, make your way through its various jumps. Finally get back up to the meeting spot by the Aerial path “Sentier aérien du Vidal, with mind blowing landscapes.
Where is it located?
The meeting is located in the Var departement, at the hostel “L’auberge des cavaliers”, approximately 40 minutes away from the left side of the Verdon gorges. The GPS coordinates are the following :
43.7372, 6.3452 (decimal degrees)
43°44'13.9"N 6°20'42.7"E (DMS)).
From Castellane, take the road of the gorges, in the direction of “Trigance”. Turn left and then right following the direction of Trigance. Take the road of the Verdon Gorges left side. Finally, a few kilometers after the Bridge “le pont de l’Artuby”, you will arrive at the “hostel of the cavaliers” and its parking.
